Who We’re Seeking
The ideal candidate for the OEC’s Interim Digital Communications and Marketing Coordinator is a tech-savvy communicator with an active and collaborative approach to managing an organization’s digital communications ecosystem. You stay on top of digital trends and best practices. You care about energizing diverse audiences in ways that are authentic, accessible, inclusive, brand-forward, and effective. You are a compelling copywriter and proactive project manager with expertise in technical campaign deployment, web development/administration, UX, SEO, and graphic design for digital.
Position Summary
The Interim Digital Communications and Marketing Coordinator will support all aspects of OEC’s digital communications. This role is responsible for planning, project managing, creating, deploying, and tracking the effectiveness of communications initiatives that strengthen OEC’s brand; uphold our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; and further our programmatic, legislative, and fundraising goals. This is an interim role at .5 – 1 FTE, with the possibility of growing into a full-time, permanent position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Communications Management (~50%)
- Helps meet deadlines for OEC’s email calendar, including list management, content creation, review, and scheduling.
- Creates social media content and monitors social media for trends and opportunities for OEC to engage with relevant topics and issues. Manages paid social media campaigns. Monitors engagement on social media platforms.
- Implements updates to OEC’s website, makes UX and design recommendations, monitors web integrations, and manages Google AdWords, SEO, and analytics.
- Maintains results and reporting benchmarks for OEC’s digital communications.
Cross-Organizational Marketing and Communications (~30%)
- Develops accessible, inclusive, culturally-appropriate materials that speak to diverse audiences.
- Works closely with the Director of Communications and program staff to design and implement marketing, fundraising, and outreach efforts.
- Supports staff in writing and editing blogs, factsheets, emails, website content, advocacy alerts, event invitations, and other materials.
- Supports marketing plans to strengthen brand, grow audiences, and raise money through social media, website, and other digital and printed materials.
- Assists in creating plans and goals for marketing, communications, and outreach.
- Works with Deputy Director for Philanthropy to promote and implement OEC’s fundraising messages and campaigns on our website and digital platforms.
Graphic Design and Creative (~20%)
- Designs and produces digital and print materials consistent with OEC’s brand and mission, including still photography, brochures, newsletters, and infographics. Co-manages media library.
- Produces original graphic design and layout, working closely with staff and external graphic designers as needed.
Qualifications:
Required Experience or Education
- Two years related professional experience managing digital communications including social media, websites, and emails.
- Experience managing all technical aspects of social media for an organization.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
- Experience developing and implementing marketing strategies to achieve measurable outcomes such as list-building or audience growth.
Required Skills, Abilities and Qualities

- Outstanding copy-editing and proof-reading skills, with ability to deliver error-free content.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; an eagerness to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment; positive, flexible attitude.

Preferred Experience
- Technical experience using these software/platforms: Sprout Social, Emma, DoGooder, WordPress, Salesforce, Google Analytics/AdWords
- Experience creating short, engaging, video content for blogs and social media
- Experience with search engine optimization/marketing (SEO/SEM) and pay-per-click (PPC) advertising
- Experience working in the nonprofit sector
- Experience working with diverse organizations and communities
- Knowledge of environmental issues and public policy
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field

Salary | Full range for position is currently $21.48-$29/hr. Starting salaries are almost always in the first half of the full range. Offers are made based on an assessment of the candidate’s skills, experience, and abilities in relation to the job description, and also in relation to peer roles in the organization. |
Other Requirements:
Travel: This position requires infrequent travel around the state. OEC encourages travel by sustainable modes, e.g., walking, bicycling, taking transit, carpooling, but driving may be best suited for some trips.
Work Schedule: Work hours are typically stable and within a standard workday, however this role may require the ability to periodically be flexible about one’s schedule and work hours. This role may occasionally require excess hours, and attendance at occasional evening and weekend events in order to achieve deliverables. OEC staff are currently working a hybrid schedule and most staff are expected to report, in person, to the office at least two days a week.
Physical: This job operates in a professional open-floor office environment with a moderate level of noise associated with personal conversations and office machinery. The employee must be able to see, hear and talk and have the physical ability to move around, lift light objects, and use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.

OEC endeavors to increase all staff wages annually to account for cost of living as well as to recognize and honor experience gained over time. We review and adjust the organizational pay scale every 2-3 years. Employees can expect to move up in the range for their position’s pay grade as they gain more experience in their roles.
