Unlocking the Power of the Grid
Last July, OEC worked with our allies to persuade the Oregon Legislature to adopt 100% Clean Energy for All, which will transition Oregon’s electricity supply away from fossil fuels no later than 2040, among the fastest such transitions in the nation. Creating more wind, solar, and wave energy is one thing. Ensuring it gets to consumers is another. When the power is out, much of our lives – and our economy – comes to a standstill. Our March 15 Business and Environment Forum focused on new ways in which clean energy can be available reliably, even when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing.

Making Oregon a Clean Energy Leader: Renew Oregon
It's an exciting time for those who care about cleaner energy and healthier communities. In 2016 OEC took major initiative to make Oregon a leader in transitioning from dirty, polluting energy to a clean energy economy: we helped found Renew Oregon. Renew Oregon is the most powerful coalition ever assembled in our state to fight for climate protection.

Oregon Environmental Council has been a leader in every legislative session since our founding in 1968. Our steady presence and our ability to forge consensus across party lines have led to creative and practical environmental protections. In 2016, OEC will once again be hard at work in Salem to protect Oregon’s environment and quality of life.

Next Thursday, we'll be meeting over pizza here at OEC for a phone bank party. Why? There is an exciting ballot measure petition about to be launched! The initiative will call for Oregon to get away from dirty coal, embrace clean, renewable energy, and cut carbon pollution. Why are we calling people?
