About ErinErin Kane is Director of Philanthropy for Oregon Environmental Council
Erin Kane joined Oregon Environmental Council in December of 2018, as our Director of Philanthropy. She is an experienced development professional and brings a range of skills to the position, from annual giving and major gifts to grant writing and development operations. Erin facilitates meaningful connections between donors and nonprofit organizations that result in powerful and positive changes in our communities and beyond. She has raised funds for some of the region’s most notable nonprofits, including Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Foundation, and Pacific Northwest College of Art, among others.
Erin earned a B.A. in International Relations from Portland State University, and M.S. in Nonprofit Management from The New School in New York. She has devoted her career to the nonprofit sector in an effort to foster healthy, equitable, and creative communities. Currently, she is exploring the intersection of philanthropy, equity, and democracy.
Erin enjoys long walks, conversations with close friends, and a good nap. There’s always more books stacked next to her bed than she can read and her daughter’s (a ginger) exuberance for life never ceases to amaze her.
I work to Protect Oregon because…
I believe we must face the causes of environmental degradation head on and inspire our community to act to preserve our state for generations to come. I am driven by a fierce sense of hope and obligation as well as a deep love for Oregon’s trails, trees, waterways, mountains and more.
