Celebrate Earth Week with BottleDrop Give!

Happy Earth Week! Obviously, this is our favorite time of year at OEC. It’s an opportunity to go on a favorite hike, connect with your community, and reflect on the beauty and bounty of our one and only planet.

However, this holiday isn’t just about celebration: it’s also about looking ahead, and standing up for the future of our home. It’s no secret that we’re feeling the effects of climate change and environmental crises now more than ever before. But that doesn’t mean we should wallow in the doom and gloom of it all: it means now is the time to act. There is genuine reason to be optimistic when we’re all working together. Earth Week is a reminder of exactly that.

This year, it’s easier than ever to join OEC in our mission of protecting Oregon’s future. In fact, you can get involved – and make a difference – by doing something you’re probably planning on doing already: recycling your bottles and cans!

In celebration of Earth Week, BottleDrop has launched the Earth Week Give 2024 campaign. From April 22 – May 4, BottleDrop will be donating up to $40,000 by matching 20% of all funds raised for participating nonprofits. OEC is thrilled to be taking part in this year’s drive.

Here’s how you can get involved, and turn your empties into a meaningful contribution to a brighter future for Oregon this Earth Week:

How to participate

New to BottleDrop? No worries! Getting signed up is super easy. Just follow the instructions here to get started.

Once you have an account and a stash of Green Bags, you’re all ready to make your donation to OEC! Simply drop off your bottles and cans at any BottleDrop redemption center to add funds to your account, then head online to make your donation. (Note that only returns made between April 22 and May 4 are eligible for the 20% match, so try to collect as many as you can this week!).

These come with a handy QR code that you can scan at any BottleDrop location. When you do, the funds from your return will go directly to us as a donation – 20% match and all! To set up a time to pick up your Blue Bags, email Janell Brittain or call (971) 353-7964.

After May 4, the 20% match ends… but that doesn’t mean you can’t still use BottleDrop to join our mission. With our Blue Bags, you can always donate your return directly to OEC, and you can also transfer funds from your account to ours online year round.

Thank you for being a part of our work. Let’s treat every week like Earth Week, and continue to cherish and protect our planet for generations to come.

OEC’s work to advance meaningful, lasting environmental progress is made possible by people across the state who care about safeguarding Oregon’s future.
