Catch up with OEC’s Emerging Leaders Board (events, summer getaways, and more!)

Guest blog by ELB Member Jessie Kochaver

Between planning three awesome events coming up this fall (don’t miss the details at the bottom of this page!) and exploring Oregon’s incredible natural places, OEC’s newest Emerging Leaders Board cohort is keeping busy this summer!

Oregon Summer Getaway Inspiration from the ELB

From iconic classics like Smith Rock to favorite backyard trails, here’s a roundup of the ELB’s top places to soak up summer and spend time surrounded by the beauty and diversity of Oregon’s natural places.

North to South, with almost too many gems to mention, the Oregon Coast is a shared favorite among the ELB.

Juliáe’s favorite spot is the Hobbit trail in Florence because of the beautiful lighthouse view, while you can find Ariel jumping off the rocks in Hunter Creek or hiking in the Samuel H Boardman Corridor. Ana, being from Hawaii, also can’t spend too long away from the ocean, and likes Cannon Beach for its balance of fun restaurants and window shopping with awesome views and trails.

ELB member Eric on a hike at Waldo Lake

Oregon’s lakes are a wonderland of recreation opportunities and perfect places to just take in some jawdropping views.

Between camping at Meditation Point, hiking on nearby trails, and paddleboarding or swimming in the lake, Eric poses, what doesn’t Timothy Lake have?!

Adventure Time

For Jessie, climbing at Smith Rock is a summer favorite. Between climbs, she can often be found swimming in the river or sunbathing on the rocks.

With so many lakes, rivers, and streams, Ana recommends exploring Oregon with a canoe.

ELB member Matt hiking at Mount Hood

And last but not least, it’s not summer in Oregon without wildflowers. Becky enjoys exploring all the pops of color around Mt Hood, while Matt loves the wildflowers (and secret chanterelle spots) of Jefferson Park.
