A message from OEC Executive Director Andrea Durbin

With Governor Kitzhaber’s resignation today, Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) expresses our appreciation for his commitment to the environment. The Governor did excellent work over his historic terms of service to protect our air, water, fish and wildlife. His work to create a network of watershed councils and to pass the recycling act helped shape a better Oregon today. Governor Kitzhaber also recognized and spoke frequently to the fact that a healthy environment and healthy economy go hand in hand in Oregon. We appreciate his devotion to our great state.

OEC will continue to advocate for collaborative solutions to Oregon’s environmental challenges, as we have done since 1968. We look forward to working with Kate Brown as she steps into her new role as governor. Kate Brown has a strong record of standing up for Oregon’s environment, with over a decade of support in the legislature for clean water, climate protection and cleaner fuels. We’re confident that she’ll continue the fight for what Oregonians want: a healthy environment for all and a robust economy built on a foundation of clean energy and climate progress.
