1968: Mt. Jefferson Wilderness Area

Larry Williams

For today's #ThrowbackTuesday post, we want to highlight the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness Area. #DYK in 1968, Oregon Environmental Council helped pass this act that grants the highest level of protection possible for natural areas in the nation, classifying over 100,000 acres as a wilderness area? For those visiting Mt. Jefferson or its wilderness area, please share your photos with us! Tag us! #LovingOregon #ItsYourOregon — Every Tuesday and Thursday leading up to our 50th Anniversary Celebration in October, we will be sharing some of our greatest accomplishments to date, all of which were achieved by a group of ordinary #Oregonians working together over the last half-century. They championed landmark legislative policies that have transformed the health of our communities and helped spark a ripple of change across the nation.
