In some ways it’s hard to believe, but in another sense it’s totally expected: big oil will stop at nothing to protect their self-interests, and that’s why they’re attacking our right to choose clean fuels and reduce pollution in Oregon. In a cynical political move, the oil industry just proposed three initiatives to repeal the state’s hard-won Clean Fuels Program. We can’t let this happen. The Oregon Clean Fuels Program is the only legislatively enacted Clean Fuels Program in the nation and arguably the only climate victory of the current legislative session.
It’s time to move this program forward. Oregonians should be able to choose clean fuels options as well as reduce pollution in our air and water.
Oregon’s drivers deserve more choices for fuel, clean air, and growth in the thriving regional clean fuels industry.
Huge oil companies spent more than $2 million on elections and lobbying to prevent the law from going into effect. And they’re refusing to give up, even though the bill has been signed into law.
We don’t take kindly to huge corporations coming in and pushing us around in Oregon. Pledge to defend Clean Fuels with us, no matter how big oil chooses to attack and undermine our law. Stand up to Big Oil and say enough is enough.
Everyone deserves the right to safe, accessible, climate-friendly transportation options. And everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely, regardless of their transportation choice. Yet the need for investments in transportation safety could not be more urgent as this year’s back-to-school season is met with a 40-year peak in pedestrian deaths, nationwide.
