March 11, 2008 — Oregon Environmental Council to Present ‘New Market Opportunities for Central Oregon Food and Farm Businesses’ Workshop in Bend

PORTLAND, Ore.—March 11, 2008—

WHAT: Consumers are increasingly choosing products they believe are healthier for them, the environment, and their community. These markets are growing beyond farmers’ markets and food co-ops to include large-scale buyers like food service companies, restaurants, hospitals, schools, grocery chains, and foreign markets. This workshop, “New Market Opportunities for Central Oregon Food and Farm Businesses,” will discuss how Central Oregon food and farm businesses can benefit from these current consumer trends and the demand for food products grown regionally.

Food and farm businesses who have accessed these markets will share successes and challenges. Buyers of regional food and food grown with enhanced stewardship will discuss their needs. The Oregon Environmental Council will share information about growing market niches and consumer preferences. This free workshop includes a dinner for those registered by March 27th.

WHEN: April 3, 2008. 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.
