Stormwater Solutions Team

OEC is convening a group of stakeholders and experts to develop a plan for reducing urban runoff in Oregon.

Storm DrainCheck out the latest update on the Stormwater Solutions Team, including results of our survey.

In urban areas, rainwater and snowmelt flows rapidly off pavement and buildings and is piped into rivers or groundwater, rather than seeping into the soil or being absorbed by plants as it would in undeveloped areas. Urban runoff can change stream flows, increase flooding, erode stream banks and channels, and destroy fish habitat. It also carries pollutants such as eroded soil, oil, metals, bacteria, pesticides and fertilizers. Because the sources of stormwater pollution are found throughout the landscape, we all must be a part of the solution: residents, businesses, and governments alike.

The Stormwater Solutions Team will develop a focused list of recommended strategies (policies, projects, and programs) that will reduce stormwater impacts in Oregon’s urban areas.

Members of the team include:

Jenine Camilleri, DEQ Stormwater Coordinator
Karen DeBaker, Clean Water Services
Linda Dobson, Portland Sustainable Stormwater Program Manager
