It's Your Oregon: Lisa Frack
Lisa says that if she could change one thing in the world to protect the environment, it would be to “seriously reduce consumption of unnecessary consumer goods since so much of our pollution and waste is generated by their production – starting with myself!”
Lisa lives in Portland, OR and works as an online parent organizer for the Environmental Working Group, a DC based non-profit. She has a Masters degree in public policy and she worked as a federal grant manager for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for 7 years.
Lisa says that if she could change one thing in the world to protect the environment, it would be to “seriously reduce consumption of unnecessary consumer goods since so much of our pollution and waste is generated by their production – starting with myself!” Lisa works to protect the environment in her daily life by taking public transit, composting, line drying, keeping her thermostat low, and supporting pro-environmental legislators.
Among the most important environmental issues to her are salmon in our rivers, as they are an indicator of water quality; growing food locally to reduce food miles; industrial pollution; and good stewardship of the land through green streets, on-site stormwater control, and stream shade.
Lisa is a member of OEC because she is glad that there is a group working hard to educate Oregonians about important environmental issues, devise solutions, and support strong pro-environment legislators and legislation in Salem.
Lisa’s favorite nature spot in Oregon is Portland’s Forest Park, which she describes as ‘a wonderful example of the intersection of nature and cities. They don’t have to be segregated!’
